Our Story
Journey to Franchising
In October 2018, Steven Shortino founded the first iSmash location in Rochester, NY, transforming a bold idea into a thriving reality. Inspired by a viral video, Steven saw the potential for a Rage Room where people could safely and joyously release their stress. From the very first day, the response was overwhelmingly positive, and the business saw rapid growth. Throughout 2019, iSmash continued to gain momentum, establishing itself as a local favorite for those seeking a unique and exhilarating experience. However, like many businesses, iSmash faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Forced to close for nearly four months, Steven used this time to remodel and enhance the facility, leading to a successful re-launch in July 2020 with even greater customer enthusiasm.
Record Growth
By the end of 2020, iSmash was achieving record sales, which prompted Steven to expand. In May 2021, he opened a second location in Syracuse, NY. Recognizing the immense potential of the business model and the growing demand for stress-relief entertainment, Steven began considering franchising. By the latter part of 2021, iSmash was officially certified to sell franchises. The first iSmash franchise opened its doors in Tampa, FL, in 2022. Since then, the brand has grown to 25 locations across the country, with more in development. In 2026 alone, iSmash opened new locations in Roswell, Sterling, Addison and Winter Park, and launched a new lineup of digital immersive games, including Floor Frenzy, Optic Breach and Target Lock, at its flagship in Rochester, NY. Today, iSmash is the leading rage room franchise in the country, giving franchisees a proven business model, a national supply chain and hands-on support from site selection through grand opening and beyond.
